I love this cardigan! I spotted the pattern in my local yarn shop, back home in Clitheroe, and bought it. I just put it to one side for a while, as I was busy knitting other things. Later in the year the yarn shop was downsizing, and were selling off a lot of stock at a reduced price. I got this lovely and soft, super chunky yarn. I actually had my eye on the same sort in yellow, but by the time I’d made my mind up someone had already snapped it up! I do really like the red now though, so it’s ok.
With super chunky yarn and very thick needles, this cardigan grew very quickly, which was very nice after knitting a few projects in 4ply. It was all really straightforward, and easy enough to memorise. The button border and roll neck were done in a way that I haven’t done before. You pick up all the stitches on a circular needle, and knit right from the bottom of the cardigan, all the way round the neck, and to the bottom of the other side. These were very long rows. If I was to do it again, I’d cast off the button border and neckline a bit looser than I have done here, this means it will hang slightly better and not pull up.
This was a great pattern to knit, and I finished it quite quickly. I’d definitely knit this again.
