This is another pattern that I borrowed from my mum. She made this cardigan for my sister when she was little. It’s a lovely little pattern that’s suitable for girls and boys.

I knitted the blue cardigan first, as a present for a friend. This is the 6-9 months size. The sleeves in this pattern aren’t knitted separately, they’re knitted as part of the front and back of the cardigan. I actually quite liked knitting the sleeves this way for a change. The button hole border is knitted separately and then sewn on.

The purple cardigan was a wee request from someone who had seen pictures of the blue cardigan. I wouldn’t usually take orders for knitting, just because of the amount of hours that it takes, but a wee baby cardigan didn’t take long so I said yes. The purple one was for a little girl, and it was the 3-6 months pattern. The button hole border is written in the pattern in two halves. and is sewn together at the back of the neck. My mum suggested that for the second cardigan, I knit it in one piece, and sew it onto the cardigan as I went along. I found that this was much easier, and neater overall, so I’d definitely keep that in mind for future.

This was a really interesting pattern to knit, and I enjoyed making it twice!
